Transistors are the heart and soul of all our devices.


What's a transistor, you ask?


A transistor is a teensy, weensy electronic switch that controls the flow of electricity, and it's key to powering all the devices we use.


Let’s take your smartphone, for example. When you press a button or tap the screen, transistors inside your phone switch on and off millions of times per second to process your touch. This allows your phone to run apps, play videos, make calls, and more, all while using very little power. Transistors keep your devices running quick and smooth, without you even noticing. Pretty cool, huh? 


Now, the reason we’re able to fit so many transistors into such small devices is because of Moore's Law which states that the number of components on a chip doubles every two years, without much increase in cost. 


While it’s not a strict scientific rule, it’s been a reliable observation since 1965, and it’s still true as tech continues to advance.

With the number of transistors doubling every year, tech keeps getting faster, cheaper, and more efficient, so our devices keep getting better without costing a ton.

Moore’s Law isn’t a scientific law, it’s just something we’ve noticed over time in the tech industry. That means it could slow down or change as new challenges come up. Knowing that Moore’s Law isn’t guaranteed makes companies think outside the box and look for new ways to make tech better.



👉 It’s Been Key to the Tech Revolution

Moore’s Law has helped drive huge advances in tech, like computers, smartphones, and the internet. It’s helped make tech powerful, affordable, and everywhere. The way we live today, with everything connected and powered by tech, wouldn’t be possible without Moore’s Law.
